Guidance Lessons Character Education
Grades Kindergarten Thru Sixth

Our Character Education Guidance Lessons for the first months of August, September, and October are as follows: August we talked about Respect and Responsibility; which will go all year long. Respect others the way you want to be respected. Show responsibility for your own actions.

Month of September - we talked about Cooperation and Citzenship, showing that the children get along with others and being respectful and responsible.The children at Millsap Intermediate made posters showing cooperation.

Month of October
- which we had Red Ribbon- our words were Self-Discipline and Determination- Showing that the children have self-control, and get all
their work done, and they are going to be determined Not To Do Drugs. As the magician, Mr.Eller said to make Smart Choices, and have Good Consequences.
The children will make smart choices and be successful.Class 6-1 made an awesome bullentin board on determination. I will have the other classes make a bullentin board before the year is over too. Class 6-1 did a tree with many different leaves showing their self-discipline and determination. I'm so Proud of all the children! We have the smartest kids in the United States
of America!!!

Month of November - our words will be Integrity and Honesty-Good character shows caring about yourself and others. Shows that what we learn is what we live. We will write about what we are thankful for. Mrs. Uselton is thankful for Freedom, having wonderful friends, Supportive Parents and Outstanding students. Our word Integrity shows honesty, being reliable, and loyal.

Month of December - our word is Trustworthiness, making good decisions-like not to cheat, lie or steal. Be honest, and have the courage to do the right thing. Build a good reputation. (Remember Santa is watching YOU). Mrs. Uselton knows some of Santa's eleves too.

Month of January - our words are Diligence and Perseverance-We will talk about not giving up, keep on trying, and get your goals accomplished. Do what you say you are going to do, and do what you say, don't make a promise unless you can keep it.

Month of February - our words will be Fairness and Courage-Having the courage to except when we are wrong, and understand that we learn from our mistakes. To be fair when someone has made a poor choice and have the courage to show good character and listen to them. Do problem-solving and work out a good situation.

Month of March - There will be No Guidance Lesson, because of testing. I will talk to the children about test anxiety, staying relaxed and doing their very best on the test.

Month of April - our word will be Caring. Showing you can be kind to others. Being compassionate and helping others in need. Express gratitude when your teacher or classmates help you. This lesson will require kind deeds through out the month. We will make a kindness book.

Month of May - our word will be Optimistic. Being positive and aware of your surroundings and what's happening. Being knowledgeable and respectful of others feelings and showing empathy and staying cheerful. Students will be confident in making good choices and good decisions. We will talk about having a fun, safe and relaxing summer vacation.
