Worked in fields from 12 years old until I graduated college, at which time I worked in a grocery store until I started teaching.

Field work included picking squash, watermelons, tomatoes, hoeing soybeans and hauling hay.

Was a Brownie at 8 years of age and moved into being a girl scout. We had lots of camping trips even in the winter with snow on the ground. In 1968 we earned money and took a limousine to the World’s Fair in San Antonio Texas called the Hemisphere fair. Lots of stories there. From the spider in the bed to Mickie losing her money and one of the girls losing her braces for her teeth.(We did find them) We also walked across into Old Mexico and spend the day. It was quite an adventure.

During my years in girl scouts I fell in love with photography, while earning a Girl Scout badge.

I won a summer camping trip by being number one in a baking contest held in Ft. Smith. It was just a contest for all area scouts. (Chocolate Cake) The camp was in Oklahoma.

I was also a active member of 4-H. I begin working at the Crawford County Fair. My first job was taking entries for the baking department. Later on we started a photography department so I became the first superintendent. I became the head of the Home Economic building from 2012 until 2020. I still volunteer taking photo at the fair mostly of the livestock show.

1973 I graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Westark Community College in Ft. Smith.

1975 Graduate from the U of A in Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

Fall of 1975 started teaching at Van Buren Jr. High. I coached Basketball, volleyball and track, taught Physical Education, Science and Health during my reign. Retired in 2007.

During the summers I volunteer and coached softball at Mulberry. I was fortune enough to coach four of my nieces and all the kids that later on won 2nd at state for Mulberry High School.

2017 I received an award for service, volunteerism, accomplishments and efforts but can’t remember what it was called. Tom Cotton spoke. The Arkansas House of Representatives gave the Citation.

After retirement I took sport photo for the Press Argus.

I had a photo hang in the convention center for a year in Little Rock after winning a contest.

One Photo hung in the office at the Arkansas state capital for years.

Every year I make a cross calendar with photos of the cross and every year a state representative of Oklahoma buys one and hangs it in his office.

Taught Sunday school from the time I was in college and while working and after retirement until around 2016 or 2017. Not sure.

I love to travel and have been in all of the lower 48 states, plus Canada, and Mexico.
